The Precinct

Herston Health Precinct is one of the largest integrated precincts in Australia. Anchored by Queensland’s largest hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, this 20 hectare precinct is a world class centre for healthcare innovation, education, research, training and clinical services.

Clinical Care

Our demonstrated ability to translate research and knowledge into clinical practice, combined with our innovation and technology capabilities, makes us a leader in global healthcare for the future.

Education

With a community of 13,000 staff and students, we are Queensland’s best and largest undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare education and training centre for medical, nursing allied health and associated professions.

Research

Our research strengths are revolutionising the future of health. We are continuing to transform healthcare as we translate discoveries and breakthroughs into clinical care, prevention and treatment.

Herston Health Precinct is less than 3 kilometres from the Central Business District and 10 kilometres from the Brisbane International Airport. It is an hour drive from both the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast beaches.

Within the next 10 years, Herston Health Precinct will benefit from approximately $17 billion worth of public and private investment in major infrastructure projects in Brisbane. This includes public transport, tourism, leisure and entertainment, aviation infrastructure, sea passenger transport, and the $1.1 billion Herston Quarter project being delivered within the Precinct itself.

The Precinct is easily accessed by road, train and bus, with a new railway station in 2024 complementing transport routes and providing fast direct links to health and research facilities across the river.

The Precinct is surrounded by some of Brisbane’s thriving entertainment, lifestyle and cultural communities.

The Brisbane Showgrounds district, Bowen Hills and QUT’s Creative Industries Precinct at the Kelvin Grove Urban Village are nearby and major sporting venues, leisure and entertainment hubs, and the Brisbane Cultural Centre, are only a few kilometres away.

We are adjacent to Victoria Park which has Indigenous and cultural significance, and the Victoria Park Golf Club.
